Car Safety

Make it hard to break in and don't give them reasons to break in.

You want the thief to think your car is empty.

Never leave coats or purses or shopping bags or anything that may entice a smash and grab. If you must leave things in the Car, leave them in the trunk out of sight. Also, put your stuff in the trunk before you park your car where you will be leaving it. In other words, if you are going to the Mall, stop before you get to the Mall and move everything to the trunk. That way the Mall Parking Lot thieves will not see you putting your stuff in the trunk.

Always lock your doors.

Keep your Car clean, don't leave junk laying around in plain site. If your car looks empty all the time, a thief will not try a quick smash and grab.

Know where you are going and how you will get there. Plan your trip, avoid seedy neighborhoods and dangerous areas.

Park where your car is visible. In Parking Lots, park up front, under lights, never way in the back, hidden. Remember, you need to walk to and from your Car, so park safely.

Always put your Cell Phone in the same spot in your Car. I recommend the Sticky Pads you can place on your Dash. I put mine in the indent of my Dash where my Speedometer is. If you need to call 911 or need to run away from your Car, you need to be able to grab it fast. You also need to be able to grab your Cell without looking when you are driving. Put it in a place where if you get into an accident, it won't fly out of reach.

Make the thief think your Car is not worth the effort.

Put a "Help, Call the Police," Sign in your Glove Box. They come made of Red Fabric and can be rolled up into your window.

Get a Car Alarm, use it always.

Get a Steering Wheel Lock.

Never leave your car running unattended.

Light Up your car and driveway at night.

Make sure you have adequate insurance.

Make Safety a habit and a way of life.
